Hitsugaya and Ichinose pick up where they left off, with Ichinose using his shikai. With everyone confused, Ichinose is about to slice Chad, when Kenpachi Zaraki blocks it and starts his battle with Ichinose.
Telling everyone to leave, Zaraki and Ichinose battle. Zaraki blocks every attack Ichinose makes. Ichinose uses his shikai, and eventually cuts Zaraki on the shoulder. Getting desperate, he uses his zanpakuto's shikai ability to trap Zaraki within a bright sphere. Zaraki easily escapes by removing his eyepatch, releasing his full spiritual energy.
Telling him to give up, Zaraki walks away as Ichinose is left with a huge wound across his chest. Ichinose refuses, and the two face off as auras surround both of them. Zaraki notices that Ichinose is giving it all, but slices him through the chest, apparently killing him.
