Kenpachi, along with Orihime and his subordinates, begins to travel to the execution grounds, but are confronted by Sajin Komamura and Kaname Tosen and their lieutenants, Tetsuzaemon Iba and Shuhei Hisagi. Ikkaku Madarame and Yumichika Ayasegawa lure off Iba and Hisagi respectively. Komamura and Tosen attack Kenpachi, but he is unharmed. Elsewhere, Renji has acquired his bankai, and Yoruichi is confident that Ichigo will do the same.
