The Shinigami decide to take a vacation to the ocean in the world of the living after Byakuya destroys the pool the Shinigami Women's Association covertly installed at his mansion. The Women's association shops for swimsuits and then heads for the beach, where groups of Shinigami compete to produce works of art on the beach. A watermelon-like hollow attacks and most of the Shinigami are helpless against it without their zanpakutos until Yoruichi and Soifon defeat it. It is then revealed that Unohana arranged the event with Byakuya and Ukitake as a game of splitting watermelons, and several more arrive as the episode ends.
