Ishida fights Yammy separate from the group, using the majority of his Quincy techniques to attempt to defeat the giant Arrancar, all the while luring him into a trap. Using mines he had gotten from Mayuri Kurotsuchi and planting them on every floor of the 5th tower, Ishida succeeds in dropping Yammy all the way to ground level. Meanwhile, Rukia has difficulty in dispatching Rudobone's soldiers until Chad and Renji show up to give her a hand. Ichigo, still battling Ulquiorra, dons his Hollow mask and finally starts to overwhelm his opponent. Ulquiorra breaks through the dome of Las Noches, and there, after telling Ichigo about two things forbidden under the dome of the fortress, at last releases his zanpakuto, Murciélago, putting his power at a superior level and completely overwhelming Ichigo.
